Projects

Listed below are brief descriptions of a few projects; past, present, and ongoing.

  • Summer Youth Football Camp - The Foundation runs an annual football camp for children ages 7-13. Gosder alongside some of his friends from BC and the NFL make it a point to teach children the fundamentals of football and provide a fun and productive atmosphere for all to enjoy. Details regarding the 2013 GCF Youth Football camps are forthcoming.

  • Haitian Earthquake Relief - Due to devestating earthquake in Haiti in 2010 GCF provided aid and medical support to the country.  With over three million people in need of help, The Gosder Cherilus Foundation sent a team of doctors and nurses on a weeklong trip to provide sorely needed medical assistance at hospitals in Port au Prince. Our efforts are now focused on providing continued support to supply and staff hospitals in Port au Prince to enable them to effectively administer medical care to all affected individuals for years to come

  • Aid to Elementary Education in Haiti - The following is a thank you note sent from the director of a school in Haiti, L'ecole communataire des citoyens reunis. When the founder, Gosder Cherilus, was approached with the issue of a school on the precipice of shutting down due to a lack to funds to properly compensate the teachers' salaries, he took action. He simply wrote a check, out of pocket, and without hesitation, to the school to cover the remainder of the insufficient funds. Mr. Cherilus was able to keep a school open with a check for $2000.00. To some, this amount may seem trivial, but for these children it meant another year of learning.

      Monsieur Gosder CHÉRILUS

     Boston, MASSACHUSSETTS

    Cher monsieur Gosder,

    Wilmarc PROVILON, directeur

  • Thanksgiving For Forty Of Detroit's Homeless - November 2009 - present.  Days before Gosder's Thanksgiving game, he personally provided and delivered Thanksgiving dinner to four underprivileged Detroit households, totalling over 40 people.
  • Michigan Dine Out for Charity - November 2012.  Local Plymoth, MI restaurants (Mother's Pizzeria, Ironwood Grill, and The Sardine Room) have banned together to support the Gosder Cherilus Foundation and its 2012 fundraising dirve.  On November 13, 2012 these restaurants will donate a percentage of their sales to the foundation in support of its efforts to raise funds for Children's Center and City Mission in Detroit as well as Ecole Presbitreal de Desdunes, a grade 1 through grade 12 school in Haiti.
